Bucket-list Bobcat... Texas

When you have an itch...you want to scratch it right? I've had the Bobcat itch so bad after I seen one at a taxidermist mounted. Over the last 10 years, I have been privileged to hunt in North America. I never had the opportunity to take a Bobcat, as they are very elusive.

This year I was hunting with an outfitter friend of mine Bruce Hunnicutt in East Texas for hogs, whitetail deer and any thing else legal! www.texashoghuntingoutfitters.com

The day started out miserable, it was rainy and cold as a front had moved in. The game wasn't moving at all.

Earlier this week a nasty storm and heavy rain fall that brought down most of the acorn's. That meant it was a feast for the local game, rather than hit the corn Bruce had put out all year!

One small buck cruised by me "Not A Shooter" and all things were quiet. I caught a movement; a cat shape came into view round a 150-200 yards right to left...yes yes a bobcat!

Good fortune was shining on me despite the weather...I raised my custom 7mm Remington Sendero and touched off the light Calvin Elite trigger and my bucket list Bob was down!

A spectacular spotted cat with a skin in prime condition lay before my eyes.

Bobcats have a gray to brown coat, whiskered face, and black-tufted ears, the bobcat resembles the other species of the midsized genus Lynx. It is smaller on average than the Canada lynx, with which it shares parts of its range, but is about twice as large as the domestic cat.

The bobcat is a North American cat that appeared during the Irvingtonian stage of around 1.8 million years ago. Containing 2 recognized subspecies, it ranges from southern Canada to central Mexico, including most of the contiguous United States. Wikipedia
