The 2024 International Big Game Rifle shoot in Darwin took place on August 23 to 25 at the Mickett Creek Shooting Complex. This marks the eighth informal event of its kind and will draw shooters from both Australia and abroad.
The competition includes seven core events and three supplementary ones, using a mix of popular courses from around the world. Notably, some events will involve moving animal targets, including a charging lion.
The shoot is a major event for big game rifle enthusiasts, particularly those who collect and use vintage and modern large-caliber rifles.
A total of $25,000 in prizes is up for grabs across various categories, including overall champion and specific awards for ladies, juniors, and country champions.
This event also presented a unique opportunity for participants to explore the Northern Territory, with possibilities for local hunting trips before or after the competition(

I took the opportunity to enter and participate in this event and it was a great experience and opportunity to find out all the good and bad traits on timed big bore events using my new 458 Lott Mauser M03 Extreme.
