My journey with Ravin Crossbows started with the R26, which I’ve had for about seven years now, and I absolutely love it. Over the years, I’ve hunted hogs, as well as whitetail bucks and does in both Texas and Kansas. The Ravin R29 Sniper, which I currently have in the USA, takes everything great about the R26 and improves on it. When positioned in a tree stand, it fits comfortably, is well-balanced, and does not feel cumbersome.
One of the advantages of owning both the R26 and the R29 Sniper is that I don’t have to bring a crossbow back and forth between Australia and the USA. This makes my hunting trips much more convenient. A couple of years ago, I purchased a Ravin bow press to handle string changes every 15-18 months. Since Australia doesn’t have any known service centers with a Ravin bow press, I took it upon myself to learn how to do it properly. Taking the time to be careful and follow the correct process has worked well for me.
I pair both of my Ravin crossbows with Rage NC (no collar) 100-grain broadheads, which have performed flawlessly. On my last hunt in Kansas, I took a nice buck at 43 yards. He ran 80 yards before expiring, demonstrating once again the lethal accuracy and power of the Ravin R29 Sniper.
