As the plane soared over the vast expanse of the Yukon, I couldn't help but feel the pulse of excitement coursing through me. It was a dream come true, a lifetime ambition to hunt for bears in this majestic wilderness. My journey began in May 2023, an adventure that led me on an unforgettable pursuit through the rugged terrain of the Yukon in search of color phase black bears.

The odyssey commenced with a connecting flight in Sydney, a mere stepping stone on the path to my ultimate destination - Vancouver, Canada. The plan was to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Vancouver Island and pay homage to the legendary Jim Shockey's Hand of Man museum. The anticipation of immersing myself in nature's grandeur and delving into the rich history of hunting was palpable.

Upon arriving in Vancouver, I embraced the opportunity to marvel at the pristine beauty of Vancouver Island. Nature revealed itself in myriad forms, from the serene coastlines to the lush forests, each moment etching itself into my memory. Visiting Jim Shockey's museum was akin to stepping into a treasure trove of hunting lore, where every exhibit echoed tales of adventure and reverence for the wild.

Soon after, my journey continued as I boarded a flight to Whitehorse, the gateway to the untamed wilderness of the Yukon. With every passing mile, I could feel the anticipation building, knowing that the true essence of my dream lay just ahead.

Setting foot in the Yukon, I embarked on a quest, heading North in pursuit of color phase black bears. Armed with my most trusted companion, a 338 Win Mag KS Remington Mountain Rifle meticulously sighted for up to 500 yards, I felt a surge of confidence coursing through me.

Days spent traversing the rugged terrain and immersing myself in the untamed beauty of the Yukon led to moments that will forever be etched in my heart. One such instance was when I laid eyes on my first chocolate-colored bear. At a distance of 375 yards, it was a test of skill and patience. With steady hands and unwavering focus, I took my shot, witnessing the bear walking away, a testament to the thrill of the hunt and the culmination of a dream.

But the adventure didn't end there.

A few days later, fortune smiled upon me once more as I encountered a magnificent golden-colored bear. Positioned at a distance of 125 yards, it was a breathtaking sight. With reverence for the majestic creature before me, I seized the opportunity and made a shot that resonated with precision and respect for the wildlife.

Each moment in the Yukon felt like a blessing, a convergence of passion, perseverance, and nature's unyielding beauty. It was more than a hunting expedition; it was a journey of self-discovery, a communion with the wild, and a realization of a lifelong dream.

As I reflect on those days, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to live the dream I had nurtured for so long. It was a testament to the wonders that await those who dare to chase their aspirations, a reminder that the most cherished moments are often found in the pursuit of our deepest passions.

Living the dream, blessed by the wilderness of the Yukon, I returned home with a heart brimming with unforgettable memories, forever carrying the spirit of adventure within me.
