As I pack my bags for the flight out of DFW tomorrow, I can’t help but reflect on the whirlwind of travel that has defined this trip. From the vast landscapes of East Texas to the bustling streets of Chicago, this journey has taken me across a significant stretch of the U.S. in a short span of time.
A trip to remember started with hunting in East Texas, where I was fortunate enough to take a beautiful whitetail. As always, time spent in the woods there never disappoints. From there, the road led to Paris, Texas, then up to Wichita Falls before crossing into New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California. The contrast in scenery was staggering—from dense forests and rolling plains to the stark beauty of the desert.
Arizona was a challenge this time around, with no luck in the field, but that’s the nature of the hunt. Success isn’t just measured in tags filled but in the experiences gained, and there were plenty of those. From there, the journey continued through Chicago, Iowa, and Utah, making for an unforgettable run through some of the most diverse landscapes the U.S. has to offer.
Looking ahead to 2025, I have big plans in the works. I’m hoping to chase red stag in Southeast Queensland, take on dangerous game in the Northern Territory, and maybe even make my way to New Zealand for another incredible adventure. Before then, late this year, I’ll be back in Texas for another round of whitetail hunting, followed by a December trip with a group of mates for sandhill crane and goose hunting in West Texas—an experience I’m really looking forward to.
As this trip comes to an end, I’m already looking forward to what’s next. The beauty of hunting and travel is that there’s always another adventure waiting just around the corner.
